Obituary of Benny Kirkland

William Benny Kirkland, 80, of the Shepherds Creek Community went home to be with the Lord and he's at peace, July 28, 2012 at his residence. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Robert Edward and Ida Watson Kirkland. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Pat Kirkland; two brothers, Bob and Mack Kirkland; and one sister, Alice Polymay. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lauada Cemetery with military rites being conducted by the Bryson City VFW post 9281. Rev. Charles Ray Ball will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Crisp Funeral Home and also from 1 until 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
