Obituary of William Jay Swan
William Jay (Bill) Swan, 54, of Sam Davis Road went home to be with the Lord Thursday, October 18, 2012 in a Jackson County Hospital. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late William and Jean Bennett Swan and grandson of the late Dr. Kelly Bennett and wife Tela and Frank and Mary Swan.
Bill had been an automobile mechanic for most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of Bryson City Volunteer Fire Department for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Swan; one son, Dennis Anthony and wife Christie of Bryson City; eight grandchildren, Dylan Rose, Jessica, Ashley, Katie, Riley, and Reese Winchester, Dave and Kennedy Anthony; one niece, Jeardin; and three sisters, Pat Swan of Bryson City, Susan Swan of Japan, and Sally Swan of Bryson City.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Bryson City Church of God. Rev. Marty Pressley will officiate with burial in the Bryson City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Crisp Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 min. prior to the service.
