I was a teenager at Moore's Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Elizabethton, TN. I still have the Bible that he and his family gave me at my high school graduation. I volunteered as the church librarian at Moore's Chapel in1988-1989, making bulletins and buying books at yard sales to stock the library. Tommy Burch and his wife Rebecca were the best I've ever been discipled by. Tommy worked a 40+ hour job a week plus shepherded this small church and always had time for counseling and church preparing. Rebecca was always supporting his efforts and the congregation while taking care of her family and the church next door. Their lives were poured out to take care of their congregation. I just wanted to let Rebecca and their children know their sacrifices are not forgotten and their lives made such a difference.

My heart was saddened to hear of Tommy passing. As one of his caregivers Tommy was always so pleasant and uplifting. We shared our faith in the Great Physician and I know that Tommy is whole again. What a blessing he was in our practice. I will miss his Smile!

Thinking of Tommy, I think of his smile and the way it was reflected in his eyes as he conversed with friends, co-workers, and acquaintances. He showed a gentle, easy spirit in his dealings with the folks around him.
Often when we talked as co-workers, he shared his faith.....a good book he had read, a meaningful verse that was on his heart. That was such a big part of who he was with everyone.
I also appreciate how accepting he was of my daughter and her son into his family. Tommy and all the family received them with love and made them feel welcome as ones of their own. A blessing indeed.
Know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers. Praying for God's comfort now and in the days ahead.
