Obituary of Russell Floyd Bennick
Russell Floyd Bennick, 69, of the Alarka Community went home to be with the Lord Thursday, August 1, 2013 at his residence. A native of Rutherford County, he had lived in Swain County for the past year. He was the son of the late Kenneth Floyd and Vivian Crain Bennick.
He was a member of Gilkey Church of God in Rutherford County and was a man who loved God. He also was preceded in death by several nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his wife Wanda Barker; a step daughter, Jessie Lynn Barker of the home; six siblings, Ted and Diane Bennick, Linda and Gregorio Marroquin, Neal and Edith Bennick, Delmas and Mary Bennick all of Rutherfordton, Gail Flynn and Leonard Head and Venita and Ralph Hill, Jr, both of Forest City; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Alarka Church of God of which he attended. Revs. Benji Collins and Jim Frady will officiate with burial in the Brendle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Saturday at Crisp Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 min. prior to the service.
