Obituary of LEROY MAX CLOER
Leroy Max Cloer, 72, formerly of Hillcrest Street, Sylva, died Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at Mountain Trace Nursing Center, after a long battle with cancer.
A native of Swain County, he was born July 20, 1941 to the late Wilburn and Leah Cloer. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Clyde and Wayne, and his two sisters, Faye and Helen.
He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Marilyn Welch Cloer, and family members, Jim Sherrill and wife Kim of Apex, NC, Heather Baranski and husband Nick of Apex, NC and his much beloved grand daughter, Ashley Baranski. He is also survived by his sister-in-law and niece from Lexington, NC and his adopted aunt, Ruby Kirkland, of Bryson City.
Leroy was a retired project manager in the nuclear and electrical industry and was an US Army veteran serving in Germany. He was a 32nd degree Mason and was a member the local Shriners, and the American Legion posts of Bryson City and Lexington, NC.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug 24, 2013, in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. The burial will follow in Lauada Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM on 9:00 PM on Friday, Aug 23, 2013 at Crisp Funeral Home. The Revs. Shane Danner & Matt Shuler will officiate.
