Obituary of Clyde Richard Cochran
Clyde Richard Cochran, 84, of the Kirklands Creek Community went home to be with the Lord Thursday, September 19, 2013 in a Macon County health care facility. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Gola and Selma Blanton Cochran. Clyde retired with Pepsi Cola Bottling Company in Bryson City as manager for 31 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member, Sunday School Teacher, Treasurer, Cemetery Chairman and Deacon at Holly Springs Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Mathis Cochran; two brothers, Sterling and Ralph Cochran; and one sister, Bobbie Reagan.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Elliott Cochran; one son, Harold Cochran and wife Donna Pannell Cochran of Bryson City; one step daughter, Anita Cloer and husband Bobby of Franklin; two grandchildren, Kim Cochran Lossie and husband Rick, Stacy Cochran Conner and husband Rick; two great grandchildren, Lynsey and Katie Conner; two step grandchildren, Leslie VanHook and Deuane Cloer; four step great grandchildren, Jared and Josh VanHook and Ale Ensley Hall, Bailey Cloer; and one brother, Claude Cochran of Weaverville.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Revs. Eddie Stillwell and Matt Shuler will officiate with burial in the Holly Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Holly Springs Cemetery Fund, 10 Ledford Rd. Bryson City, NC 28713; or to the Swain County Rescue Squad, PO Box 606, Bryson City, NC 28713.
