Obituary of Kerry Kenneth Wood

Kerry Kenneth Wood Sr., 79, passed away Monday, October 21, 2013 in a Buncombe County Hospital. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Silas and Emily Breedlove Wood. He retired from the US Navy and won the US Navy Tallent Show in San Diego, CA during his tenure. He also retired from Spartanburg Technical College. He was a beloved and giving father and he will be missed. He is survived by his two sons, John W. "Billy" Sims and family, Kerry K. Wood, Jr. and family; his daughter, Karen Lockart and family; and his ex wife and mother of his children, Mary E. Wood. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm Saturday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev.Charles Ray Ball will officiate with burial in the Maple Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 am until 12:30 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
