Obituary of James Lee Coggins
James Coggins (Papaw), 80, of Bryson City, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, December 22, 2013 in a Swain County Hospital. A lifelong resident of Swain County, he was the son of the late Maggie Jenkins Coggins. He was retired with Kraft General Food with 45 years of service and was a Shriner for 57 years. He was a Master Mason with Oconee Lodge #427 in Bryson City. He served on the Swain County School Board for 12 years, and was the chairman of the Swain County Commissioners for 16 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ann Frances Coggins; one son Bobby Lee Coggins; one brother Vernon Lollis; and a niece Linda Lollis.
He is survived by his son Barry Coggins and wife Collette of Bryson City; two grandchildren, Brooke Coggins, and Corey Coggins and wife Jenny Coggins of Bryson City; nieces, Shirley Lollis and Lois Baker; brother, Robert Coggins and sister Beatrice Hollifield all of Bryson City.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Dr. John Tagliarini will officiate with burial in Swain Memorial Park with Masonic graveside services conducted by the Oconee Lodge #427 in Bryson City.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 PM Thursday at the Funeral Home.
