Obituary of Marie Adams

Marie Stephenson Adams, went home to be with the Lord on August 20th 2014. She was born on September 16, 1930 in Swain County to the late John and Hattie Hayes Stephenson. She left in 1945 to start a family and a career in Gastonia. She retired in 1993 and returned home to enjoy her golden years. She attended Rock Creek Baptist Church. She is also Preceded in death by her son Ricky James Stephenson, and grandchildren Celestina, Joseph and Adam Stephenson. Also her brothers Willard, Arnold, And Clarance Stephenson. Her Sisters Bertha Payne, Junita Ball, and Lena Watson. She is survived by her children Joanne and Larry Hughes, Terry and Marquita Stephenson, Kattie and Charlie Walker. Her Grandchildren Terry, Laquita, Maryanne, Monica and Micheal Stephenson, Kim and Jeremy McAlister, Karla Fisher, Shannon Toney, Linda Ward, Brenda Price, Erica Johnson and Robert and Jason Walker. Twenty eight great grandchildren and many others she loved and took care of in their time of need. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev. Ernie Styles will officiate with burial in the Watkins Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home and other times at her home at 255 Blackhill Road.
