Obituary of James Franklin Davis
Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James Franklin Davis passed away peacefully at home on March 19, 2017 at the age of 77.
Jim is survived by his children, Terri Blackburn of Gulf Breeze, FL., Clay Boyington of the open ocean, Joy and Rich McClure of Waterbury, CT., and Jimi and Brandon Hoover of Bryson City, NC. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Heather Blackburn of White Bluff, TN., Josh Blackburn of San Francisco, CA., Clayton Boyington of Nashville, TN., Davin Hoover of Bryson City, NC and his sister Carolyn Barmes of Stecoah, NC.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Linda Gail Davis, his son, Jerry Boyington, and his brothers Wayne Davis of Georgia, Roger Davis of Stecoah and Ronnie Davis of Stecoah.
Jim was born on August 17, 1939 in Nashville, TN. After high school he served his country by joining the Army and later served his community by becoming a member of the Metro Police Department in Nashville, TN. A man of many talents, he later dabbled in the car business and even owned a towing business that he and his wife, Gail, ran together. Jim never met a stranger in his life and found great joy in meeting new people and helping others. This was again shown when, after moving to Almond, NC., he volunteered on the local rescue squad alongside his longtime best friend Rocky Sampson.
Those who had the privilege of meeting "Big Jim," as friends would call him, can celebrate his life at Crisp Funeral Home located in Bryson City, NC. Visitation will be from 12-1pm with a service to follow.
On Friday, March 24 at 1pm, he will be laid to rest at Spring Hill Cemetery in Madison, TN., next to his beloved wife.
