Obituary of Lola Mae Bryson

Lola Mae Long Bryson passed away peacefully at her home on the hill on Tuesday, May 30, 2017. She was the daughter of Gustavus and Betty Jane Sutton Long. She was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters; and her husband of 52 years, Paul James Bryson. She is survived by two daughters, Betsy Rae Kirby and husband Roger of Granite Falls and Judy Paulette Bryson Quinn and husband Rick Quinn of Leicester. Her grandchildren are Evelyn Moore, Denise Camp and Michal Kirby of Granite Falls; Regina Wiggins of Bryson City and Elizabeth Sossamon of Leicester; eight great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was very active in the Whittier Community Club and the Extension Homemakers. She loved quilting, sewing, homemaking, crocheting and gardening. She loved to gift people with her handmade creations. There are many babies who have received the warmth of her hand crocheted afgans. The family wishes to express gratitude to her neighbors, friends and caregivers who assisted in her care. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 pm Thursday at Crisp Funeral Home in Bryson City with the funeral immediately following. Burial will be in the New Whittier Cemetery.
