Obituary of Gladys Oliver

Gladys Jones Oliver, age 86, of Redding, CA, passed on peacefully on Saturday June 10, 2017 at a Jackson County Hospital. A native of Swain County, Gladys was the daughter of the late John H. and Fannie B. Jones and wife of the late William Roy Oliver, who passed in 2003. Gladys was a 1950 graduate of Swain County High School. Gladys spent most of her adult life as a loyal and loving wife and mother living in Redding.
In addition to her parents and husband, Gladys was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandi Oliver, who died in March, 2017; three brothers, Grady, Bennett, and Hoie Jones, all of Bryson City; two sisters, Bonnie Baines of Bryson City and Media Jones of Burnsville, NC; two nephews, Ronnie Baines and James Jones of Bryson City, and a niece Lois Smith of Bryson City.
Gladys is survived by five nieces, Opal Barker, Myrtle Birchfield, Rachael Jones, Shirley White and Lynda Smith all of Bryson City; three nephews, Frank Jones of Bryson City, Dennis Jones of Spruce Pines, NC and Wayne Baines of Winston, GA. She also leaves her caring neighbors, Bill and Lisa Reid and Guy and Kathy Hurt of Redding, CA.
A private Family service in honor of both Gladys Jones Oliver and Sandi Gail Oliver will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Swain Memorial Park, In Bryson City, NC. Rev. Jim Frady will officiate with burial along side their husband and father in Swain Memorial Park.
