Obituary of Mack Junior Carson

Mack J. Carson, 87, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 12, 2017. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late George and Grace Carson. In addition to his parents, Mack was also preceded in death by his first wife, Clara Smith Carson and his second wife, Laura Smith Jenkins Carson; six brothers and sisters, Paul, Dessie, Oma, Hazel, Ed and Elizabeth.
Mack was a deacon of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church for over 20 years. He was a former Captain and retired member of the Swain County Rescue Squad. He was a board member of Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company and worked as a Tile Setter for over 50 years.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Doris Orr Carson; one daughter, Deborah Crisp and husband Michael of Bryson City; two grandchildren, Justin Greene and wife DeShield of Bryson City and Samantha Crisp and husband Drew Sandridge of Kill Devil Hills, NC; two great grandchildren, Aidan Allison and Liam Greene; seven step children; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Rev. Tim Barker will officiate with burial in the Laurel Branch Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Swain County Rescue Squad, PO Box 606, Bryson City, NC 28713.
