Willie Mae Gunter, 92, of the Franklin Grove Community, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday November 25, 2018. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Valley Cochran Buchanan, and wife of the late Vincent David Gunter SR. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Caroline Gunter, two brothers, Cecil, and Haystin (Buck) Buchanan and two sisters, Lois Sorrells, and Frankie Buchanan. She was a longtime member of Franklin Grove Baptist Church. She was survived by one son, David Gunter and wife Myrtha of Bryson City; five grandchildren, Jessica, Nick, Megan, Sarah, and Madison; nine great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday at Crisp Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Caleb Kelly will officiate with burial at Swain Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Thursday at the Funeral Home.
