Obituary of Minnie Stanton
Minnie Cloer Stanton, 101, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord, Monday June 3, 2019. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late James Pink and Elizabeth Oliver Cloer, and wife of the late Claude Stanton. In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by one son, Earl; two daughters, Alice Kirkland, and Betty Blazer; two granddaughters, Janet Marr Curtis, and Vikki Goree; one grandson, Jamie Stanton; three brothers, Bill, Thurman, and Fred, and one sister, Oma Birchfield.
Minnie was the last known survivor of a World War I Veteran to pass away. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Bryson City. She loved sewing and absolutely loved gardening. Minnie retired from Sneed’s Restaurant with over 30 years of service.
She is survived by children, Nellie Fay Rawlings (Buddy), Virginia Etchison, James Claude Stanton (Joretta), Patricia Clark, and Mary F. Parrish (Gary); 21 grandchildren, and multiple generations of great Grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday at Crisp Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Eddie Stillwell will officiate with burial at Brendle Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM Saturday at the Funeral Home.
