We were totally shocked to hear about our beautiful friend Kathy’s passing. Our hearts are so very sad. The only comfort is knowing we will see her again in heaven. Kathy was a friendly, loving, adorable, funny, quirky cute, easy-going, special person; a loving mom and grandma, a beautiful sister in Christ and so much more and we are truly blessed to have known her!
My husband and I met Kathy while on vacation in Bryson City in May 2017, at the local laundromat. We went in to wash some clothes. Right off the bat Kathy was very warm, friendly and helpful telling us to use a better machine and then we got to talkin. My husband and Kathy both grew up in the Plant City area around the same time and we all just hit it off.
Kathy was so funny too. While I was folding clothes at the laundromat, I noticed a little doggie hot dog charm on the folding table and I turned it over to Kathy and she said “oh, I have one of those kinds of dogs, I’ll just keep the charm on my necklace and if someone comes looking for it I’ll be able to give it to them.” The next day we met up for breakfast and yes Kathy was wearing her hot dog charm necklace, grinning ear to ear. She was too cute! We’ve been friends ever since, keeping in touch via texts and phone calls. We also hooked up on our annual visits to Bryson City, seeing her in May 2018, then May 2019.
We are truly thankful and grateful that this past May we were able to see Kathy again. We met up with her for church, then breakfast afterwards. In the afternoon we reconnected for a light hike at Deep Creek. That time spent with her is such a cherished memory. Thank you Lord that we had that time with Kathy!
Our sincerest condolences go out to her children and family and everyone who knew her. Kathy was a very special and wonderful person who will be missed dearly. Our love and prayers are with you all!

Kathy, was a perpetual fountain of love and compassion with the heart of John and the zeal of Paul who saw beauty in everyone and everything equally. I never ceased to be amazed,as she would light up and exclam ,I think I saw so and so and run off to catch up with them.I think many of us try to protect our heart from hurt, while she like a combat medic ran unprotected and vulnerable to give injections of unconditional love to all who needed it, she left a part of her with everyone including the tiniest creatures she met. And there will always be with us

Kathy was a very special and beautiful person. She brought a lot of light and happiness to all that knew her. Kind, gentle, always helpful and smiling. She was a true Earth Angel that is now a Heavenly Angel with a sparkling and shining halo. The brightest star in the Heavens will be Kathy - smiling down upon everyone she left behind. May all her loved ones find peace in having shared time on earth with such a beautiful soul.

I am so very sad to hear this. I have known Kathy since I was a kid and have nothing but wonderful memories of her. She sure adored her children and grandson! For months now, I saw her at least once or twice a week at the library or Ingles and we always had the best conversations. Laughing, catching up, reminiscing, every single time, and she always asked about my family. She was one of the sweetest, loving people I have ever known and I will miss her so much! Will see u again in Heaven my precious sister in Christ. ❤️

I am at a loss of words... my heart breaks for you Erin and Steven your mom was a very special woman. I will always remember her giggle and how she would cover her mouth with her hand. Memory time:. Back in the day she and I took a trip to Asheville in a very little yellow car she had, i drove because she didn't like to drive that far from home on the way back from our fun day it rained a lot and every time i would hit a small puddle the car would shift and i ask kathy is there something wrong with your car? ..oh no it does that sometime, nothing to worry about ..all the way the car was doing this and I was a nervous wreck thinking I was going to wreck her car...once we got home I walked the car trying figure out what was wrong ,,looking at the tires they were bald!! Kathy in a giggle said oh yeah they been that way a while but that shouldn't cause the car to act up!!! Kathy was one to always see the good in everything. I loved her and will think of her when driving in the rain .❤

Kathy and I were childhood friends and partners in many escapades during our early years of family vacations in the mountains, where we rode motorcycles/dirt bikes thru the winding roadways. We waded many streams ; even catching frogs, were taken Snipe hunting which was the big laugh on us. Many more adventures that carried us into our adult lives! We both married and raised family’s! After many years we reunited as in the past and never forgot those times and stories that shaped us! She is s beloved friend and wonderful mother and grandmother! I will truly miss talking and seeing her again, but will surely see her when I am called home too!

I first met Kathy when she came into my Herb business. As a CNA, DtY6D our paths crossed often. We visited at my mother house this past weekend. She had planned to help me with caring for Mother. Mom was so pleased to have met her. Kathy is walking with Jesus today, in her new home. Such a hard worker and helping so many people in need. You will be missed girl. May the family find peace.
