Obituary of John Douglas Bird

John Douglas Bird, 51, passed away on October 8, 2019.  He was born on November 6, 1967, in Swain County to his late father Lee Bird and his mother, Myrtle Bird, who survives him.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of eight years, Darlene “Squinnie” Bird; four children, Jonna, John Jr, Grace, and Kirsh; three sisters Bernadette, Bernadine, and Penny; two brothers Willian and Freddie; several grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a special brother Will Bird.

A funeral service will be held Friday, October 11, 2019 at 2:00pm at Old Antioch Baptist Church with Dwayne Lambert officiating.  Burial will follow in the Bird family cemetery.  The nephews of Mr. Bird will serve as pallbearers.  The family will receive friends and family on Thursday, October 10, from 5:00pm until 10:00pm at the church.  Crisp Funeral Home is assisting the Bird family with arrangements.
