Obituary of Harold J. Meader
Please share a memory of Harold to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Harold was born on October 15, 1929, in Cambridge, New York, and grew up in Miami, Florida. After graduating from Miami Edison in 1947, Harold was employed by Florida Power and Light as a meter reader. Harold was drafted into the army during the Korean War and served as a Military Police Officer. After his enlistment was up, Harold resumed his career with Florida Power and Light.
Harold met Tina Yozwiak in 1955 and was married the same year. Harold and Tina bought a home in West Hollywood, Florida, where they would raise their family. In December of 1976, Harold moved the family to Cocoa Fl, where he continued his career in management with FPL, retiring in 1987. Harold enjoyed camping and hunting and taking summer vacations in Bryson City, NC. Harold and Tina built a cabin in Bryson City, where they would spend about eight months a year in the place they called “Meader’s Heaven.” In North Carolina, Harold and Tina were fond of hiking daily and having picnics in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Harold was a devout Catholic, who served as President of the Knights of Columbus and the Lions Club. He wanted to help make a difference in the community and help those in need. Harold is joining his wife in heaven, who left this earth on November 21, 2019.
Harold is survived by his children, Stephen Meader, David Meader, and Michelle Strickland; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Strickland, Matthew Meader, Julia (Jae) Hasselberger, Jennifer (Nicholas) Finneman and Jacob Meader; a great-granddaughter (Rylee) and his sister in law, Leona Erazmus.
