Obituary of Wade Cook

Wade James Cook born May 6, 1938, went home to be with the Lord Thursday May 28, 2020. A native of Swain County he was the son of the late Roy and Mamie Cook. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sibling’s, Lee Roy, Floyd, Joel, Tommy, Blanche Estep, and Vera Cogdill.
Wade is survived by his wife, Mary Vivian Calhoun Cook who he married in 1962; one daughter, Mary Ann Graham and husband Curtiss; step-grandson, Jeremy Graham; sibling’s, Samuel Cook and wife Carol, John Cook and wife Carol, Barbara Holden and her late husband Bobby, Retha Orr and husband James, and Patricia McDermott.
Wade was a very dedicated member of Franklin Grove Baptist Church for several years where he served as Deacon and many other positions. He later attended Harmony Baptist Church which he truly enjoyed until he was disabled.
He worked several kinds of jobs and last worked for Town of Bryson City and enjoyed it as well as helping visitors with directions.
He was a resident of Mountain View Manor Nursing Center since June 20, 2019 with great care from wonderful people.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday in the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Pastor Tony Cochran will officiate with burial at Swain Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM Sunday at the Funeral Home.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lauada Cemetery Association, 1166 Franklin Grove Church Rd., Bryson City, NC 28713.
