Obituary of FAYE BARLOW LIVINGSTON

Faye Barlow Livingston, 93, of Bryson City, North Carolina, died September 7, at her home after an extended illness. She was born in Kings Creek, North Carolina and was the last surviving child of the late J.K., Sr. and Margaret (Maggie) McCall Barlow of Kings Creek, North Carolina. Her brothers and sisters were Guy (Leola) Barlow, J.K. (Virginia) Barlow, Jr., Glen (Lilly) Barlow, Clarence (Edith) Barlow, Clinton (Elsie) Barlow, Hessie ( Ralph) Parlier, Annie (Tom) Kirby, Bessie (Harmon) Morton, Fannie Barlow, Mae (A.L.) Gaines.
Mrs. Livingston, wife of the late Stanly Livingston, was Valedictorian of the Class of 1934 at Kings Creek High School. She married Stanly Livingston in 1935; they were married 63 years. In addition to be a most loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, she was an avid gardener and needleworker. She designed many pieces of handwork including draperies, christening gowns, wedding pieces, tatting and smocked baby dresses. She worked alongside her husband in the local Western Auto Store from 1957 to 1977.
She was ordained as a Deacon in the Baptist faith in the early 1950's and was an active member of the Esther Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church Bryson City, North Carolina.
Surviving children are David (Carol) Livingston of Asheville, NC; Don (Delores) Livingston of Greenwood, SC; John (Freda) Livingston of Bryson City, NC; Dr. Carole L. Ricketts (Stan) of Bryson City, NC; Joe (Elizabeth Brigham) of Bryson City, NC; and Tom (Fran) Livingston of Asheville, NC.
Grandchildren are Bill, Stan, Don Jr, Mark, Tracey, Kim, Amy, Matthew and Allison. Surviving great grandchildren are Justin, Brandon, Mary, Kayla, Dustin, Cameron, Jessica, Dakota, Brentley, Maggie and Molly.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 2:00 at First Baptist Church, Bryson City. Revs. John Tagliarini and Willie Newman will officiate with burial in Swain Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 2:00 pm at the church.
