Obituary of Gregory Olin Crisp
Please share a memory of Gregory to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gregory Olin Crisp went home to be with the Lord on September 11, 2020. He was 59 years old. A lifelong resident of Swain County, Greg was a graduate of Denver Automotive and Diesel College in Denver, CO. He has been the owner of Performance Automotive serving his loyal customers for 32 years. Greg was preceded in death by his father Olin Kenson Crisp and his mother Virginia Amos DeBord. Greg is survived by his wife Sarah DeHart Crisp, daughter Tiffany Lynn Crisp Walker and husband Charles Walker. Greg enjoyed the company of four grandchildren Isabella, Henry, Jacob and Dakota Walker. He is also survived by his sister Karen and Mike Torda as well as his step-father Harold Martin DeBord.
Greg worked hard at enjoying life. Aside from spending time with his grandchildren, Greg loved flying, sky diving and working with horses. He often claimed he has ridden 5000 miles in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park on his favorite horse, Sonny, with his good friend Bob Burns. He was proud of having raised a World Grand Champion Tennessee Walking Horse, Tarheels Optical Illusion. Greg is well known for and was very thankful to have helped Swain County enjoy the summer by bringing fireworks back to the fourth of July.
The funeral will be held on Sunday, September 13, at Midway Baptist Church. The family will be available from 1:00 to 2:00 at the church. The service will begin at 2:00 to be followed by a graveside gathering at Swain Memorial Park. Mark Sale will be officiating, and pallbearers will Ronnie Blythe, Richard Bowman, Tony Brown, Bob Burns, Lee English, Danny Miller, Marvin Oliver, and Jack Parton. For those struggling with difficult life decisions help is always available. Please find help through the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (800-273-8255) or Mobile Crisis Management 888-315-2880.
