Obituary of WARREN BARKER

Warren (Edward) Barker, 82, of the Alarka Community went home to be with the Lord Saturday, August 22, 2009 in Tsali Care Center. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Thaddeus and Mary Elizabeth Barker and husband of the late Mary Alice Higdon Barker. He was of the Church of God Faith. He was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Barker; three sisters, Alene Woodard, Mae Frady, and Alice Lankford.
He is survived by two sons, Larry Barker and wife Dawn of Bryson City, Roger Barker of Bryson City; 5 grandchildren, Amy Barker, Eddie Barker and wife Lottie, Sonya McNabb and husband Couney, David Barker, and Ashley Barker; 8 great grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth Woodard of Mills River, NC.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Revs. Ned Pressley and James (Bo) Parris will officiate with burial in Swain Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
