Obituary of Joe Edward Millsaps

Joe Edward Millsaps, 80, of the Round Hill Community went home to be with the Lord Friday, May 20, 2022. A native of Swain County he was the son of the late Jim and Aglestia Greene Millsaps. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Margie Jean Millsaps; brothers, Dillard and B.J. Millsaps, and grandchildren, Krystal Millsaps, David Ledford, and Ridge Cochran. Joe was an avid hunter and fisherman. He always said “If it’s Brown it’s Down”. He was a member of Galbreath Creek Baptist Church. Joe also loved to spend time in his garden. He is survived by two sons, Randy Millsaps and wife Laura, and Roger Millsaps and wife Tammy; two daughters, Sheila Owenby and husband Danny, and Sharon Hampton and husband Skeeter; grandchildren, Shannon, Jessica, Keri, Aaron, Amber, Miranda, Tyler, Dalton, Benjamin, Alan, Jeremiah, Johnny, Tanner, Colton, Hunter, Cierra, Becca, and Daniel; 24 great grandchildren; sisters, Imogene, Tiney, Evelyn, Wanda, and Beatrice, and brothers, Buddy, Ralph, and Robert. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday at Crisp Funeral Home Chapel. Revs. Dale Green and Dewayne Kirkland will officiate with burial at Laurel Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Aaron English, Benjamin Collins, Johnny Woodard, Jeremiah Hampton, Dalton and Tanner Millsaps, Patrick Earls, Austin Hampton, Hunter Hampton, Braxton Crowe, Briar Hatton, and Derick Hatton.
