Joyce Bennie Lee Pittman 76 of Lower Alarka Community went through the gates of heaven (went home to be with the Lord), Thursday July 28, 2022. She was the daughter of Dillard Stephenson and Agnes Lindsay Stephenson and Granddaughter of David R. Lindsay and Nora Carson Lindsay. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Richard C. Pittman, two sons and their wives, Richard S. Pittman and Kimberley Douthit-Pittman, Eric J. Pittman and Joan Buchanan-Pittman, and furry son Harry. Grandchildren Victoria Pittman Hogue, Eric Buchanan, Jessica Buchanan-Queen, and Logan McCall. Joyce was a Teacher’s Assistant at Bryson Elementary School. A graduate of Swain County High School where she met her husband. She loved her animals, especially her 9 chihuahua’s. She loved her Arts and Crafts, avidly making something with her hands. She was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. In the last years of her life, her greatest joy was being at home with her husband and her dog Harry. Visitation at 11:00am Saturday August 6, 2022 at Crisp Funeral Home. With a Memorial Service to follow. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Four seasons and Swain County Hospital, EMS, and Swain County Rescue Squad. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Four-season.
