Obituary of Patricia Ann Dorsey

Patricia Ann Dorsey (Patti), 69, of Bryson City, North Carolina passed away in her home December 26th, 2022 following a months-long decline in health. Patti was born in Trenton, New Jersey on December 12th, 1953 to Walter Dorsey Sr. and Julia Cottini. She started her family in Trenton before becoming a Swain County local by choice in 1990, where she remained for the rest of her life. An avid reader and the occasional poet, Patti preferred her solitude. Her personal library included cookbooks and she enjoyed preparing home-cooked Italian recipes. Prior to her decline, she preferred to walk rather than drive and this kept her spry, along with the pride she took in maintaining the landscaping around her home in East Deep Creek. Her only grandchild, Joy Allen, was born in 2020 and Patti diligently collected clothes and little surprises to gift to Joy when she came for visits. She was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers; Walter Dorsey Jr. and Thomas Dorsey. She is survived by her sisters Nancy Woodward, Frances Arecco, and Julianne Gaynor; her sons Patrick Allen of Cullowhee and Matthew Allen (Kate) of Fines Creek and her granddaughter, Joy Rosemary Allen. There will be a Celebration of Life memorial gathering for Patti on a date that is yet to be determined.
