Dear Brandi, I never met your dad or mom. I am so sorry for your loss . We know only have them for a certain amount of time but it never makes it easier. I know that Brett and my brother Ricky & Ruthie will help anyway, they can. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers . God bless you always

So saddened to hear that Bruce has passed.
When Bruce and myself were 6 or 7 years old our families became very close. Our parents, Robert and Evelyn Gunter, were the best of friends with Gene and JoAnn. We spent some time on Glenville Lake but many years on Fontana fishing, camping, water skiing, staying in our boathouses just loving the water. Bruce, Bobby and myself traveled many miles (all 3 behind the boat at the same time) up and down the lake skiing with Daddy or Gene pulling us, anywhere between the dam and our Alarka boat-houses. We would criss-cross under each other’s ropes and do very CRAZY things, Bruce as the oldest was our ring-leader, we stayed in trouble. For most of our childhood Bruce was like a brother to us. When our youngest brother was born Bruce thought he was the “stuff”, carried him around all the time. As we grew older, life happened and we lost touch but we never forgot him and talked about him, especially when on the Fontana. We had a wonderful childhood together, many precious and hilarious memories.
Prayers for all his family as you face this heart-breaking loss.
Our deepest condolences ~
Teresa Gunter Stevens, Bobby and Jeff Gunter

I appreciate Bruce for all of his stories about trials n hollers, creeks, rivers and lakes he had visited. He'd count down the days for hunting seasons and foraging for wild plants, then share the bounty of branch lettuce or some squirrel stew he had made! I learned a lot about mountain ways and of times long ago from the stories he would tell. He loved(s) his family. Bruce will be missed.
My love to all the family, so sorry for your loss.
Friend, Melissa Owen

My deepest sympathies to Bruce's family. I'm so very sorry to hear that he has passed. I first met Bruce years ago at the Indian store with Patty and Keith in Cherokee, NC. Bruce was kind and friendly and fantastic sales person. As years went on, I was in the store atleast twice a year. He always had wonderful stories to tell about his adventures. Bruce was a very kind and happy person. May you rest in peace now Bruce. I've met so many family members in the store and my heart and prayers go out to all of you.
