J. C. Ball, 76, of the Balltown Community, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, October 1, 2011 at his residence. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Al and Nota Mae Ball. He was the owner and operator of Gold and Silver Shop and Bryson City Pawn. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He was a member of the Gideon International. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Ann Ball, a grandson Brandon Ball; a sister, Joann Sutton and a brother Dan Ball.
He is survived by his wife Sheena Smith Ball, four children, Alan Ball and wife Pam of Bryson City, Scott Ball and wife Cheryl of Tioqa, PA, Jay Ball and wife Irene of Sylva, and Donna Moore and husband Keith of Cal, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one brother Charles Ray Ball and wife Betty of Bryson City, one sister Nannie Sue Blanton and husband Ronnie of Bryson City, a mother-in-law, Eleanor Smith of Park Hills, KY, two step children Tonya Wilson of Parkville, Missouri, and Spencer Burke of Kansas City, Missouri, three brothers-in-law, Spencer Smith of FLA, Scott Smith of GA, and Steve Smith of KY, and one sister-in-law Saundra Strunk of KY.
Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday at Victory Baptist Church of which he was a member. Rev. John Stephens will officiate with burial in Swain Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 3:00 PM Sunday at the Church.
