Our beloved sister, aunt and cousin, Juanita Greene Millner, age 92, joined the heavenly angels on Thursday, March 7, 2024 in Bryson City, North Carolina. She was born in Bryson City on July 14, 1931. Her life was filled with many family and friends who loved spending time with her.
She started her work career at Belding Corticelli in Hendersonville. She later moved to work for Olin Corporation (later known as Gladfelter then Ecusta) where she started in the Rod Department and later moved to an Administrative Assistant role. She retired in 1993 after working there for more than 30 years.
Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Henry Mackey, and later by her second husband, Walker Morehead Millner Jr, her parents, Glen Gordon Greene and Dessie Jones Greene. She was also preceded by her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Ernest Maney, her brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Becky Greene, sister and brother-in-law, Glenith and J.C. Price, sister-in-law Jean Greene, and brother-in-law Earl Woody.
She is survived by sister Evelyn Woody, brother Paul Greene, brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Patricia Greene, and sister and brother-in-law Kathy and Elmo Dehart. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins who she regarded as her family. Juanita always remembered her friends and family on their birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, Christmas and many other holidays and special occasions. She was a prolific writer with personal messages in every card that was special to the occasion and person she loved. Juanita also had many special friends who visited her often.
Juanita loved feeding the birds and white squirrels and tending her many flowers. She was very religious and loved her church family and attending church. She shared her love for God with all she knew and lived her life daily in his image.
“…make yourselves beautiful on the inside, in your hearts, with the enduring quality of a gentle, peaceful spirit. This type of beauty is very precious in God’s eyes.” 1 Peter 3:4
