Obituary of Ruth Jean Cole Almond

Ruth Jean Cole Almond, 90, passed away March 23, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Ellis Cole and Sara Gunter Cole. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Almond, son Eddie Almond, and sister Ann Cole Llewellyn. Nanny Jean was a real people person who never met a stranger and was always ready to carry on a good conversation. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed doing anything crafty. She was an outstanding cook/baker who made the best chicken pot pie and pound cakes ever! She was an amazing woman who was outgoing and strived to help and show love to others. She is survived by her daughter Ann Almond Howell (Bill), daughter-in-law Lawana Cooper Almond, grandchildren Will A. Howell (JeanAnn), Ashley Almond (Bambi) and Courtney Almond. Great grandchildren Liam Howell and Ellis Almond whom she adored and bragged on ever chance she got. And brother-in-law John Llewellyn. A special thank you to the nurses and aides at Mountain View Manor who meant so much to her and showed her so much love and care. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, March 28th at the First Baptist Church of Bryson City. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 pm Thursday at the church.
