Obituary of Takashi Royce Cruz

Takashi Royce Cruz, 39, was born December 11, 1984 in Reno, NV and is survived by his mother Vicki Standingdeer of Cherokee, NC and his father Darrel Ray Cruz of Nevada. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Kikki Cruz and brother, Yona Cruz; niece Aiyona Cruz and two nephews Clayton Cruz and Cubby Kekahbah; two special cousins Ed and Randy French. Also surviving stepfather Steven Daggs, stepsister Safiya Daggs, stepbrother Stevie Daggs; very special aunt and uncle Margaret and Gary French; aunt, Sheila (Gary) Standingdeer, uncles John Bullet Standingdeer, Shan (Pat) Standingdeer; great aunts, Mary Jackson, Joann Standingdeer, Delores Maney, Yvonne Bushyhead, Lucetta French, Rynette Shell; and great uncle, Carl Toad Standingdeer. Takashi was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents John and Mary Standingdeer of Cherokee and his paternal grandparents, Betty and Kenneth Cruz of California; two aunts Susie Standingdeer and Missy Standingdeer Bradley; three brothers Brandon Nune Standingdeer, Blue West, and Dustin French. Also preceded by his former wife Althea Lossiah Cruz; 10 stepchildren and special sister-in-law Birdie; three nephews Sky, Jackson and Pedro Figuerog. Kashi attended Smoky Mt. High in NC and Douglas High in California and SCC in Sylva, NC. He was a very talented artist who excelled in all forms of media but drawing was his favorite. He was a grass dancer and he was a friend to all. He was a laid-back happy guy who loved to make people laugh and never judged people. To know him was to love him. He will be sorely missed. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday at Christ Fellowship Church in Cherokee. Kashi will be taken to the church at 4:00 pm Wednesday by Crisp Funeral Home to await the hour of service. All singers are welcome.
