Obituary of William Claude Laney

Bryson City Dateline: William C. (Bud) Laney, 88, of the Bryson Branch Community, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, October 25, 2011 in a Swain County Hospital. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late William D. and Hettie Cable Laney. He also was preceded in death by one son, William Steve Laney, son-in-law, Mack Stephenson and six sisters. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Esta Garland Laney, one daughter, Linda Laney Stephenson, three sons, Gary Laney, David Laney, and Daryl and wife Kay Jones Laney, grandchildren, Lisa Laney, Chad and wife Susan Laney, and Dana Laney, and great grandchildren, Makayla Carlisle, Bransen Carlisle, Presten Rhinehart, and Emily Laney. Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday at the Chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev. Charles Ray Ball will officiate with burial in Swain Memorial Park.
