Frances, I, too, learned of Ernest's death through the paper and wanted to contact you with my condolence. I know this is a very difficult time for you here at the holidays, but you have such strong faith, I know God will help you through it. Your sweet disposition and kindness will forever be remembered as I knew you all those years you worked at the Swain High cafeteria. And I don't want to forget those wonderful sons, of whom you always kept me up-to-date on. My love to James and Roger. May you all have a blessed holiday season. I Love You.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Mr. Parris was a remarkable and kind man, and truly a friend to all who knew him. My memories of growing up next door to your family are very special ones that I will forever treasure. Please let me know if I can be of help to you in any way. Know that you are in my my heart and prayers, and that I will always be grateful for the honor of knowing Mr. Parris and each of you. In all you do, Godspeed.

Frances,
I only learned of your husband's death a couple of hours ago when I read The Smoky Mountain Times. I so wish I had known sooner so that I could have visited with you, Roger and James. Although I did not know Ernest well, the times we met made it evident that he was a good, kind man. Then, having taught Roger and James and appreciating what wonderful young men they were, I knew that much of their personality and actions could only be attributed to the upbringing of two remarkable parents.
You have always been such a blessing to me. The days--and years--that you were at Swain High were better because of your presence. After Gil got to know you through your visits at the bookstore, he, too, recognized someone extra-special. I know you have a faith that can help you, but I also know that this has been--and will be- the most difficult time in your life. Please let the love of those who knew Ernest and/or you wrap itself around you. I send you my love and prayers. Mary Stiles I would so much appreciate James/Roger sending me a quick email with your address/phone number so that I can contact you more personally. Gil grew up in Hendersonville, so it was once home to him.

Dear Family,
I pray God will comfort you in your time of loss. Both Mr and Mrs Parris always had a smile. That is the best memory I have that they were always smiling. Mrs. Frances, I know you will be so lonesome, but know that Ernest is at peace. God bless you all.
