Benjamin Harrison Winchester (Ben), 88, of the Bryson Branch community passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 24, 2010.
A native of Swain county, he was the son of the late Lawrence (Lum)and Sarah Dehart Winchester. Ben was a veteran of WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Beuna Winchester of 62 ½ years and four children: Brenda Arvey and husband Joe of Lexington, NC; Beverly Collins and husband Paul of Bryson City; BH Winchester and friend Beverly Reynolds of Bryson City; and Benita Coffey and husband Glenn of McDonough, GA. Eight grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Jack Winchester of Bryson City and two sisters, Mary Winchester and Nell Isenhower of Lexington, NC. And many friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by five brothers and one great granddaughter.
The funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 27th , 2010 at 11:00 AM. Crisp Funeral Home was in charge of the services. Rev. Benji Collins will officiate with burial in the Sawmill Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Paul Collins, Jr., Dustin Collins, Boyd Winchester, Kregg Parton, Keith Parton and Kenneth Parton. Honorary pallbearers were Dale Hogue and Dale Spence.
The visitation is Monday July 26th, 2010 from 7 until 9:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
