Obituary of Billy Rose

Billy E. (Gene) Rose, 77, of Lower Sawyer's Creek, Robbinsville, NC passed away September 24, 2010 at Harris Regional Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearlie Rose and Etta Crisp Carringer, his step father, Roy Carringer; his wife, Ruth M. Rose and his sister, Lily Irene Rose. Gene was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion. He retired from Stanley Furniture and had served sixteen years on the Robbinsville Board of Aldermen. He is survived by his wife, Rena B. Rose; his daughters, Kathy Carringer and husband Freelin, Sharon Slaughter and husband Terrell; step daughters, Rita Sawyer, Donna Sawyer and husband Noel Jones, and Lisa Sawyer and husband John Millsaps. He is also survived by his maternal aunt, Edith Pearl Middleton; grandchildren, Matthew Slaughter and fiancé Anya Farland, Jamie Scrivner, and Ashley Slaughter; step grandchildren, Jacob Lewis and fiancé Felecia Stewart, Zeb Millsaps and wife Jessica, Kelsey Millsaps and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 27, 2010 at New Hope Baptist Church of which he was a member. Rev. G.D. Phillips will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Crisp Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
