Obituary of Charles Ferris Breedlove
Charles "Ferris" Breedlove, 95, of Bryson City passed away Saturday, October 11, 2014.
He was a lifelong resident of Swain County. He was the son of the late Jule and Mollie Breedlove.
He served with the U. S. Navy during WWII.
He retired from the National Park Service, Blue Ridge Parkway.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Breedlove; grandchildren Tyler Griffin and Tracy Revis, son in law Jack Revis; siblings Hubert Breedlove, Lillian McLean, Grace Fullerton, and Leslie Falco as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his children, Nancy Revis, Bryson City, NC; Bud Breedlove, Bryson City, NC, Kay Griffin (Everett), Alexander, NC and Libby Burril (Les), Cleveland, GA.
He was a loving grandfather to his grandchildren Larry Revis (Michelle), Mollie Robinson (Marcus) and Ashley Glenn (Scott).
Great grandchildren Aimee Holbrook (Matt), Drew, Dalen and Audrey Revis, Preston and Revis Robinson, Kailyn and Zach Glenn, Leah and Matt Bien; and great great grandchild, Waylon Holbrook.
He will always be remembered by family and friends for his strong work ethic into his 90s, offbeat sense of humor, love of family, good food, and bluegrass music.
He was most likely the oldest member of Arlington Baptist Church where he attended regularly during his lifetime.
Private family services were held at 11:00 am Monday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev. Paul Travis officiated with burial in the Arlington Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Van Middlesworth, Dr. Engel and the staff of the Swain County Hospital for the wonderful care given to their father.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a Christian ministry, Humane Society, or your favorite charity.
