Obituary of Loretta Bowers Hicks

Loretta Bowers Hicks, 92, went home to be with her Lord Wednesday, December 30, 2009. A native of Swain County, she was the last surviving child of John A. and Ada Phillips Bowers. She was a homemaker and a loving mother to her children.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Haskell Hicks; and sons, Plato Hicks and Mack Allen Hicks.
She is survived by her children, Helen Laws and husband Lesley of Salisbury, NC, Hubert Hicks and wife Linda of Bryson City, Linda Jenkins and husband Bobby of Oakwood, GA, Mary Burrell and husband Grady of Bryson City; nine grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Clyde Bowers, Ora Bowers, Fern Bowers, Marie Bowers, Freda Oliver, and Inez Cochran.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, January 2, 2010 in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home with the Revs. Ed Kilgore and Eugene Moore officiating.
The family will receive friends from 11:00a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Swain Memorial Park.
