Leonard Ray Swayney, 28, of the Big Cove Community went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 17, 2010. A lifelong resident of Cherokee, he was the son of Calvin Ray Swayney of Whittier, and the late Margaret Elizabeth Saunooke Swayney.
In addition to his father, he is survived by four children, Thadius Ray Swayney, Tabitha Mae Swayney, Emily Swayney, and Olivia Swayney all of Cherokee; one sister, Starlene Elizabeth Swayney of Whittier; three nieces, Lucy, Edna, and Trista; and one great nephew, Lucas.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Sequoyah Baptist Church. Rev. Tim James will officiate with burial in the Saunooke-Armachain Cemetery.
The body will be taken back to the church at 5:00 p.m. Saturday by Crisp Funeral Home to await the hour of service.
