Edith Smith Jenkins, 70, of Jenkins Branch Rd, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, December 14th, 2010 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Coleman and Maggie Bowers Smith. She was employed with Heritage Quilts as a Sewing Machine Operator for over 30 years and had worked for Swain County as a CNA for the past 10 years. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sonja Jenkins Mason.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years Robert Jenkins, one daughter, Rita Moss and husband Randal of Sylva; one son, Jeff Jenkins of Bryson City; 10 grandchildren, Jared, Coleman, Jackson, Jacob, Natalie, Jesse, Kimberly, Nathan, Jordan, and Justin; 6 sisters, Frances Dorsey, Lizzie Bowers, Peggy Hayes, Janet Allen, Sandra Tallent, and Mae Clay; 5 brothers, Leon Rollon, Phillip, and Junior Smith, and Orville Bowers.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Friday at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church of which she was an active member. Revs. Eddie Stillwell and Earl Holden will officiate with burial in the Jenkins Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12 until 2:00 PM Friday at the Church.
Crisp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Building Fund.
