Obituary of Hurshel Haze Dehart

Hurshel Haze Dehart, 93, of the Kirklands Creek Community passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Mountain View Manor Nursing Home.
He was a WWII veteran serving in the European Campaign with the 714th Tank Battalion. Upon returning from the war, he followed construction work and retired in 1982 from Claussen Paving Company. Uncle Haze, as he was known to all, continued to work with his cattle and farming until declining health.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Victoria Winchester Dehart, as well as brothers, Carroll, Joe, and sister, Eliza Dehart Seay and triplet siblings Benjamin, James, and Rachel. Additionally, nephews, Kenneth A. Dehart, Chad Calahan, Lance Casebolt, and niece Geraldine Dehart Cloer.
He is survived by one sister, Edna Marie Dehart; nephews, John (Lynn) and Jim (Peggy) Seay, Joe Dehart, Jr.; nieces, Jeanette Chapman, Doris (Jack) Casebolt, Mildred Callahan, Margaret Dehart, and Alice (Gary) Nolen.
Uncle Haze was a blessing to his family, as well as the numerous friends whose lives he touched. Among these, is a special great-nephew, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Kenny Dehart and life-long fellow Hellcat, Norman Ray Milner.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2011 at Holly Springs Baptist Church. Revs. Tim Barker and Eddie Stillwell will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites being conducted by the Steve Youngdeer American Legion Post 143, Cherokee, NC.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Friday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Sitton, William (Bo) Warren, Mack Smith, Kenny Dehart, John Seay and Jim Seay.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like for all friends and family to donate to Holly Springs Baptist Church of Kirkland's Creek.
