Ruth Ledford Long, 74, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday February 10, 2011. A longtime resident of Cherokee, she was the daughter of the late Noah Sr. and Geneva Ledford and was the wife of the late James Alvin Long. She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Jake, Charlie and John Ledford, and 3 sisters, Polly Ledford, Annette Braun and Virginia Blythe.
She is survived by her daughter Gail Johnson of Cherokee
2 Grandchildren- Steven Ledford of the home and Sandra Robbins of Bryson City
3 Great Grandchildren- Briana and Blayne Bowman, Viktor Robbins
3 Brothers- Noah Ledford Jr., Lloyd Ledford, Daniel ( Sonny ) Ledford
3 Sisters- Vera George, Betty Cucumber, Golinda Ledford
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday February 13, 2011 at Acquoni Baptist Chapel with the Revs. James ( Bo ) Parris , James (Red) Bradley and Brother Ray Kinsland officiating. The body will be taken back to the Church at 5:00 PM Saturday by Crisp Funeral Home to await the service hour.
