Obituary of Peggy Sarah Carland

Bryson City Dateline Peggy Hampton Carland, 63, of the Grassy Branch Community went home to be with the Lord Thursday, February 24, 2011 in Buncombe County. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Gladys Orr Hampton. She was a member of the Evangelistic Tabernacle. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Bobby, and Wayne Hampton; and granddaughter, Brieana Winchester. She is survived by her husband, Frankie Carland; two daughters, Sherry Wright and husband Greg of Bryson City, Debbie Winchester and husband Shawn of Bryson City; four grandchildren, Stephanie Oliver and husband Josh of Bryson City, Dylon Winchester, Kassie Wright, and Trent Wright all of Bryson City; one great granddaughter, Jayden Smiley; two step-children, Rick Carland and wife Heather stationed in Hawaii, Kim Short and husband Daniel of Hendersonville; four step grandchildren, Alex and Ricky Carland and Telea and Amber Short; two brothers, Bill Hampton and wife Brenda of Bryson City, Dale Hampton of Bryson City; one sister, Hazel Zavadil and husband Joe of Lincoln Park, Mich. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev. Marty Pressley and Jerry Orr will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
