Amy Peigler Gibbs passed from this life through the portals of Heaven on Tuesday, June 21, 2011.
She was a daughter of Commodore and Leila Koon Peigler of Greenville, SC.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Owl and husband Eugene Owl, Jr. of Whittier, NC; three grandchildren, Brian Owl and wife Cindy, Jodie O. Cook and husband Carroll, Jenny O. Lane; eight great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; one sister, Ann P. Jones and husband Judson of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Gibbs was born in Greenville, SC. She married Eugene L. Gibbs in Greenville, SC in 1947. They eventually returned to Whittier, NC. As wife of a Baptist Minister, she spent many years in service to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; pianist, Sunday school teacher, bringing children to and from church services, making costumes and scenery for programs, as well as leading others to Christ and any other activities, duties, or tasks she could to spread the Gospel Story. Her life and talents have been an inspiration to her family and we are thankful to our Lord for her life and what it means to us.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Hillside Baptist Church in Bryson City, NC.
Burial will be at the New Whittier Cemetery in Whittier, NC.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Crisp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
