Obituary of Madge Geneva Hyatt

Madge Geneva Massey Hyatt, 86, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 28, 2015. A lifelong resident of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Geneva Cunningham Massey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, William Theron Hyatt; a brother, McKay Massey; and two daughters, Linda Williams and Theresa Jones.
Madge is survived by her children, Patsy Bowman of Bryson City, William Edward Hyatt of Bryson City, David Vernon Hyatt of Robbinsville, Kenneth Eugene Hyatt and wife Beth of Brevard, NC, Gail Hyatt Styles of Bryson City and Melissa Claxton and husband Mark of Bryson City; eight grandchildren, Lee Bowman, Robbie Bowman, Heath Hyatt, Hannah Anderson, Nathan Hyatt, Lauren Toineeta, Jamie Hyatt, and Zachary Hyatt; two great grandchildren, Conner Bowman and Rylin Anderson.
Madge loved the Lord and was a member of Victory Baptist Church for 35 years. She was a loyal housewife and mother for 61 years. She also loved to write poems and wrote the devotional for 27 years for the Smoky Mountain Times.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday at Victory Baptist Church. Revs. Jon Stephens and Marty Pressley will officiate with burial in Swain Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday at the church.
