Obituary of Clara Jane Simonds

Clara Watkins Simonds, 61, of Bryson City went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 1, 2015 in a Buncombe County Hospital. A lifelong resident of Bryson City, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Edith Watkins. She was a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church where she loved playing the piano. She was a devoted wife and mother, but her greatest joy was being Nana to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Brieana Winchester. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Don Simonds; three daughters, Angie Jones and husband Jeff, Debbie Winchester and husband Shawn and Sherry Wright and husband Greg, all of Bryson City; grandchildren, Stephanie Oliver and husband Josh, Dylon Winchester and Becca, Taylor Jones and Jessica, Kassie and Trent Wright, and Kyndle Jones; great grandchildren, Jayden, Kyleigh, Bailey and Brooklyn; special friend, Joyce Greene; two brothers, Donald Watkins (Harriett) of Clinton, TN, Archie Watkins (Cindy) of Whittier; two sisters, Barbara Hauther (Bob) of Maynardville, TN, Joanne Styles (Bobby) of Bryson City; two nephews and four nieces. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday at Victory Baptist Church. Revs. Jon Stephens and Marty Pressley will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm Sunday at the church.
