Obituary of Jennifer Burns

Jennifer Mason Burns (Jenny) passed away on Wednesday, November 4, at Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth GA after a period of declining health.
Jenny as she was known to most, was born to the late Oscar and Lorene Bryant Mason on June 24, 1951.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband of over 30 years, Donnie Burns, and brother, Wayland Mason.
She grew up in Blairsville, Georgia, and graduated from Union County High School in 1969. After graduation, she lived for a few years in Blairsville before moving to Fontana Village, North Carolina. It was there she met the love of her life, Donnie Burns, and settled in Western North Carolina for many years. Over twenty years ago, she was transferred by her employer, Rite Aide Drug Stores, to Erwin, Tennessee. They remained in their adopted home town until Donnie's death in February 2015.
Jenny is survived by brothers Charles E. and Frances Mason, Blairsville, Baxter and JoAnn Mason, Dacula, Georgia, and sister, Patsy M. and James Cook of Duluth, Georgia, two step-sons, Jerry Jenkins and wife Cyndi, Bryson City, and Bryan Burns and wife Mergina of Kentucky. Also surviving is her aunt, Pauline and Ronald Taylor of Blairsville, and Mother-in-law, Fannie Burns of Bryson City; step granddaughter, Ashley Jenkins of Bryson City.
She leaves behind a wealth of extended family including three nephews, five nieces, five grand nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
She also leaves behind her special family, the Burns family of Bryson City.
Pallbearers: Alan Cook, Brian Cook, Eddie Mason, Steve George, Jason Cook and Cody Cook.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev. Roger Roland will officiate with burial in Swain Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
