Obituary of John David Mills

Mr. John David "J.D." Mills, 74, of High Point, died Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at High Point Regional Hospital. Born February 5, 1941, in Sylva, J.D. was the son of the late Charlie and Molly Davis Mills. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Beck, a brother, Leroy Mills, and a sister, Sue Noone. He owned and operated J.D. Mills Expert Tree Service for 44 years, and was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid and skilled fisherman and licensed Captain, and loved going after rainbow trout, marlin, salmon and striper. To his family, he will be remembered as a great, wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was big-hearted and generous to a fault, and will be greatly missed. On July 12, 1983, he was married to the former Yvonne Jollie who survives of the home. He is also survived by a daughter, Tina Beck, of High Point; four grandchildren, Olivia, Emily, Stephanie, and Johnny; three great grandchildren, Brinley, Eva, and Ian; two sisters, Mary Dalton and husband, Hunter, of High Point, and Toni Bradley and husband, Dowdy, of Sylva; a brother, Bryant Mills and wife, Celia, of Fayetteville, GA; three special nephews, Michael Mills, Charlie Mills, and Martin Noone; and five nieces, Stacey Rhodes, Maria Middleton, Amanda Gossett, Jennifer Tackett, and Crystal Mills. Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2015, in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale, officiated by Rev. Bobby Loving. Interment will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday in the Davis Family Cemetery in Whittier. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6 until 8 at Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale.
