Obituary of Christopher James Pittman

Christopher Pittman, 36, of Cody Road, Macon County, went home to be with Jesus Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015 after a long bout with cancer. He will be greatly missed. A graduate of Swain West Elementary and Swain County High School, he is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lloyd and Gilda McHan Dukes, and by his paternal grandparents, Coyde and Evelyn Sherrill Pittman, all of Bryson City. He is survived by his mother, Debbie Dukes Pittman of Franklin, and his father, Larry Pittman, his half-brother, Cory Pittman, his sister, Lena Pittman Dover and two nieces, Samantha and Alyssa Dover, all of Bryson City, and his beloved pet cat, Pickles who offered many hours of comfort and adoration during Chris’ illness. A special thanks go out to nurses and staff of Cancer Centers of Western North Carolina, and Angel Hospital and Hospice Services nurses and volunteers of Macon County, and for all their loving attention and care during Chris’ illness. A memorial service, officiated by Rev. David Watkins, will be held on Saturday, January 2nd, 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church on Caney Branch Rd. (off Stephenson Branch and Lower Alarka Roads) in Bryson City. All family and friends are welcome and invited to speak in memory. In honor of Chris’ favorite past-time, please bring your favorite comic book/movie hero T-shirt or poster, if you have any available.
