Rest now my friend. It was and honor and privilege to work with you at KSC. I will miss talking to you on the phone, and my trips back to Bryson City will never be the same. Enjoy that early morning cup of coffee watching the sun come up from your porch in heaven my friend. God be with you and your family.

One of the greats at KSC Fire Rescue. Always had a smile. King of the firehouse pranks. RIP Chief Donnie. You will be missed.

Known him since I was a kid and I do hope where ever he goes that his heart is less burdened.
From my family to yours... my sincerest condolences.
Firefighter Prayer
When I am called to duty, God,
wherever flames may rage,
give me strength to save a life,
whatever be its age.
Help me embrace a little child
before it is too late,
or save an older person from
the horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert,
and hear the weakest shout,
quickly and efficiently
to put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling,
to give the best in me,
to guard my friend and neighbor,
and protect his property.
And if according to Your will
I must answer death's call,
bless with your protecting hand,
my family one and all.

I am so sorry to hear about Donnie. It makes me sad every time we loose a Brother Firefighter, Especially someone you spend a third of your life with.
Everyone at KSC would sooner or later have a Nick Name. When I got there I met "Baby Fireman" AKA Donnie Largent. Donnie was just fun to be around and to work with. He would bring in the best honey I have ever had. He was a hard worker, he built his own house, not to mention nailing his foot to the floor. He was a good guy to know and work with. He was a good Firefighter and a good Chief to work for. My prayers to the Family.

You were one of the few good guys who was there to help when needed. Besides being a good guy, a great firefighter and coworker. Rest in peace and enjoy visiting with your mom and dad, Teddy and Roger Dale. Love you my friend.

Donnie was a wonderful friend, and brother in the KSC fire Dept. He would randomly call and try to get me to come up for a porch cocktail and hang in the mountains at his home. He always was there for me before and after my husband was killed. Been struggling so I never made it up. Was hoping to go up this year at some point alias too late. He was passionate about people he cared for... and ferocious in his convictions of those he did not... I truely will miss his steadfast honest friendship!!! Prayers to all his family especially Maxine. He loved you truely and completely and was evident when he spoke of you. Now he's in Gods arms and resting in peace. Love you brother!
