Obituary of Walter Edison Bowers

Walter Edison Bowers, 96, went home to be with the Lord on May 23, 2024, while surrounded by loved ones. He was born on September 15, 1927, to the late Willie and Katie Bowers. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Bowers and two sons Eugene Bowers and Dexter Bowers. He is survived by nine living children, Betty Daniels (Floyd), Kathy Freedle (Steve), Wanda Lindley (Chuck), Lesa Lewis (Robert), Brian Bowers (Tammy), Scotty Bowers (Melody), Brenda Philman (Steve-deceased), Jerry Bowers, Kathy Simonds (Earl-deceased), and Honorary son Jimmy Lambert. Walter has twenty-eight Grandchildren, forty-three Great Grandchildren, and fourteen Great Great Grandchildren. Walter was a logger and farmer most of his life and enjoyed gardening, fishing, ginseng digging and the outdoors. He was loved by so many and will be remembered for his kind nature and giving heart. The family would like to give a big heartfelt thank you to Johnnie Fox and Anita Reavis for helping with his care. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 28th from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Church. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 29th at 1 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Church with Jimmy Lambert and Chris Nations officiating. Honoring him as pallbearers will be his Grandsons.
