Obituary of Leona McDonald

Leona McDonald, 95, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013. A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Lettie Fay Bryson and Ed Barnes. She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Wood (Emmit) of Scaly Mountain, Rita Jean Smathers of Waynesville, Patricia Rowland (Ken) of Blanch, NC; one son, Jack McDonald of High Point, NC; eight grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren; one sister, Faye Stewart of Villa Rica, GA; and one brother, James Barnes of California. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Whittier Church of God. Rev. Ned Pressley and Alfred Sizemore will officiate with burial in the Union Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the church. Crisp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
